It is often done as a \u201crevenge\u201d against a day filled with responsibilities and obligations that leave us with little time for ourselves. It is as if staying up late is a way of saying, \u201cI will do what I want, even if it is not the best way for my health.\u201d This delay in sleep is not typically caused by <a href=\"https:\/\/soulmechanicstherapy.com\/zh\/insomnia-why-cant-i-sleep-at-night\/\">insomnia<\/a> or the inability to sleep. Instead, staying awake longer than you should be is a conscious decision. While it may seem harmless, delaying bedtime to squeeze in more \u201cme-time\u201d can take a toll on our mental and physical health.<\/p><\/div><\/div><h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Why_Revenge_Bedtime_Procrastination_Feels_So_Appealing\"><\/span><strong>Why Revenge Bedtime Procrastination Feels So Appealing?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h5><p>Revenge bedtime procrastination typically stems from a sense of lost control over one\u2019s time. When our days are packed with <a href=\"https:\/\/soulmechanicstherapy.com\/zh\/burnout-recognizing-the-tell-tale-signs-of-burnout\/\">work<\/a>, family responsibilities, and other obligations, there is little time left for ourselves. So, we often carve out this time at the end of the day when we feel we can finally relax, sometimes at the expense of sleep.
