It can be triggered by various situations, such as feeling wronged or mistreated by others. It can stem from a single incident or repeated behaviours that hurt us over time. The tricky thing about resentment is that while it may seem justified, holding on to it can cause more harm to us than to the person we resent. It can build over time, especially when the underlying issues are not addressed.
